X2CRM Version 6.5 Update Highlights:

X2Workflow Check-in Location Marketing Automation

X2Workflow is a CRM Automation Designer that allows CRM Admins to track website visitors, capture web leads and create automated actions based on customer behaviors. X2Workflow is a clever and incredibly customizable business tool that places the power of X2CRM marketing, sales and service processes in the hands of customers, allowing them to fine tune their business and harness the abilities of the X2Engine platform.

New in this release is a “Check-in” X2Workflow Action. This new location workflow action allows users to stay updated with a Notification, Email, SMS, or Activity Feed post that displays which X2 users are nearby as well as Google Map directions to each user using criteria such as distance away or time since last X2 user action.

For example, when a customer opens an email, not only does X2CRM detect that the email was opened but also determines the location of the user and then notifies the closest X2CRM user and also sends the user directions to the customer’s address. When buyer attention spans are limited, being able to take advantage of location to create new customer interactions ensures that every opportunity is captured.

X2CRM Mobile Android and iOS Apps

X2CRM 6.5 introduces a number of new mobile application enhancements. X2CRM is fast becoming a primary tool for mobile users by allowing the full contact action history to be seen on mobile devices. New in version 6.5 is the ability to create audio notes, make video recording and the ability to attach the user’s location, or Check-in to account posts.

X2HubServices

Introducing a completely new cloud service for both CRM open source and is included free for X2VPS hosting customers. This new cloud connector service provides one stop connector for Gmail synchronization, Calendar Sync, SMS two factor authentication, interaction location detection, advanced Google mapping and additional social network and data enrichment services.

Marketing Campaign Management

New in this release is support for open email rates, click rate, and unsubscribe rate metrics for tracking campaign performance. Additionally, weblead form landing pages’ thank you text can now be customized in the weblead form designer.

Email Mail Server Connectors

With version 6.5, X2CRM includes full support for most all email servers to send out email correspondence and email campaigns. In addition to email open tracking, X2CRM also captures the location of the user when emails are open. This intelligence can then be used in X2Workflow to create marketing automation actions. X2CRM includes email server connectors for Gmail, Outlook, Office365, Exchange, Yahoo, Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mandrill, Postfix, Sendmail and many other mail servers.

User Location Check-ins with Google Mapping

New in 6.5 is support for X2 user check-ins. Users can now post location check-ins with photos and voice notes. Additionally user accounts can now be configured to require an SMS based two factor authentication token upon login. Included with user check-ins is a Google Map of users and their location histories. With this feature, managers can look at an X2CRM Google User map at any time and see the location of users and their statuses. This allows managers to know exactly what is going on in the field without having to contact users.

Email & Calendar Improvements

New in version 6.5 is support for multiple shared calendars, event invitations with location tracking and two way Google calendar synchronization.

Email Correspondence – X2CRM can now monitor users email inboxes and automatically attach customer emails to CRM records. Marketing workflows can then be triggered create automated responses and alerts. In addition to tracking, alerting and logging when customer emails are opened, users can now add workflow automation triggers to automate responses, alerts or activate other actions within X2Workflow. Emails sent from automated marketing workflows can now activate new workflows when emails are opened by prospects.

It does provide good introductions to new location or X2Checkin, Google Maps, major Calendaring and Google sync improvements and X2Touch mobile 2.0 features. We are about to release 6.5.3 within the next few days. Today we are pleased to release X2CRM version 6.0.3. For a small point release it features a number of new capabilities including updated Android and iOS apps, new X2Workflow mass actions, smart Web Lead Capture forms and a more simplified Administration panel. In addition version 6.0.3 includes two new beta features a new AWS powered bulk emailer and advanced Jasper reporting.

X2Workflow is a CRM Automation Designer which allows CRM Admins to track website visitors, capture web leads and create automated actions based on customer behaviors. X2Workflow is a clever and incredibly customizable business tool that places the power of X2CRM marketing, sales and service processes in the hands of customers, allowing them to fine tune their business and harness the abilities of the X2Engine platform.

New in this release is a “Change Record” X2Workflow Action. This new workflow action allows users to switch to a related record during a workflow execution. Users can use it to do things like update a “total sales” amount on a Contact when a Quote is marked as won or otherwise update related records in response to X2Wofkflow triggers.

Additionally a new “Mass Execute Macro” action is available. The record list grid view now supports mass execution of Macro-type workflows. Users can select records using the record grid view checkboxes and click the new “Execute Macro” option to run a Macro-type workflow on multiple records at the same time.

Secure Web Lead Capture with File Uploads & Workflow Routing
X2CRM now includes built-in CAPTCHA on weblead forms: Weblead, service, and newsletter forms can now optionally require a CAPTCHA upon submission to prevent spam. This can be configured under the ‘advanced’ tab of the weblead form designer.

Website visitors can now upload files on X2 Web Lead Capture forms. Web lead and service forms can now be configured to allow file uploads. File uploads also include Media virus scanning.

Bulk Email Service – With version 6.0.3 X2VPS, hosted customers now can utilize Amazon AWS, Email Send and Receive Service for no additional charge for 50,000 or less emails per month. A one-time $100.00 setup fee is required to activate this service. Support for X2CRM open source users will also be supported based on account verification. With this new mass email capability, users are no-longer required to use third party bulk email services – saving time and money.

Simplified Administration Console – X2CRM now features an updated, streamlined Administration console. All configuration settings have been combined into a single view and allow administrators to rearrange menu items to suit their individual preferences.

Last week we released X2CRM version 6.0. This release has a number of exciting features but first I would like to provide a general X2Engine | X2CRM update and forward looking road map for the remainder of this year.

Founded in 2011 and after five years of growth we are now at the stage where X2CRM Cloud Hosting Services now can fully fund company operations – thank you X2VPS customers. At the same time it was felt 6.0 was the right time to fully open source X2Platinum Edition. With version 6, all commercial X2CRM editions have now been combined into a single release and relicensed under the GNU Affero GPL v3 open source license. X2CRM is fully committed to providing the best open source CRM software. Having one open source edition will make it easier to add new features and also to share the full power of X2CRM as free and open software.

As software developers, you not only want to be successful with the applications you create, but also see them used as fully as possible, by as many folks as possible. Now having only one, X2CRM software application will enable a much richer extension ecosystem around the fully open source X2CRM platform. With the start of a new year I would like to take a moment to do a quick recap of 2015 and to share our plans for 2016. Before I start I realize that you many not be that interested to know how we create, build and manage X2CRM software and cloud services. Perhaps being a smaller software company with a very high ratio of software developers it is easy for us/me to get very feature vs solution focused. I know I have gotten a little too specific with features and have not also provided more business focused guidance and real world customer examples on how to unleash the power of X2CRM to dramatically impact your customer relationship management goals.

X2CRM 5.0 released in late 2014 with our latest update 5.4 last week culminated over five years of continuous software and cloud systems development. When you start something from scratch with a very, very large CRM platform ambition it does take a more than a few years to build a long term foundation. Today, five years later I am incredibly pleased with the way that X2CRM has matured into a truly global enterprise CRM platform for small business. While you could say living in two different worlds, one open source and the other a commercial software company, it has been amazing to see X2CRM open source grow to over 24,000 installations around the globe, and also to see our commercial products X2Professional, X2Platinum and X2VPS cloud services grow to over 400+ customers in less then three years.

Today X2Engine is different company then we were five years ago. Instead of focusing solely on software development, our time and interest is now more focused on customer success. Now ‘customer success’ is perhaps a little too marketing in its general use. Building a CRM platform for small business has allowed us to work with a lot of interesting CEO’s and executives across many businesses types, industries, verticals spanning the globe – with over 60% of our customers residing outside the US. So, one of my real focuses for this year is to share interesting X2CRM customer success stories in order to show how many different ways you can use X2CRM for your business. By building a CRM platform I think we may get lost in the platform while the really exciting action is out on the race track – customer deployments.

To start I would like to invite you to join us for a very, very interesting joint webinar with one of our go-to services partners, AdvantageCRM. X2Engine and AdvantageCRM have been working together for several years now so we thought it might be interesting to highlight a customer in the healthcare insurance industry. In the USA over the last few years our medical insurance industry has gone through massive changes due to new government legislation. Traditionally medical insurance brokers would sell to companies directly who managed medical plans for their employees. So a broker could have thirty accounts with 100-2000 employees per account. Today, employees can buy their medical insurance directly which means for brokers they have to go from having a relationship with 30 key accounts to over 3000 direct employees. This has turned out to be a big problem for brokers to manage both corporate and individual medical insurance accounts efficiency and profitably.

David Parker, President of Parker Insurance has graciously agreed to share his story as an owner of an insurance agency and how he has deployed X2CRM to take advantage of this opportunity. X2CRM 5.2.2 Software Roadmap

Today we are very excited to announce X2CRM version 5.2.2 a small feature release set for preview next week and release the first week of October. X2CRM 5.2.2 contains mostly customer requested and funded feature enhancements in addition to several new social networking connectors. Please see the feature list below for more details.

Additionally, several months ago we decided to significantly upgrade our X2CRM Virtual Private Server (X2VPS) cloud service infrastructure. As a result this weekend we are moving all X2VPS accounts from our web severs presently located in a data center here in Santa Cruz, California to a more international, powerful and scalable cloud infrastructure service powered by Amazon Web Services – AWS. The good news for X2VPS customers is that you can expect a significant increase in page load speed and overall application performance.

In the coming weeks we are also going to roll out local X2CRM VPS servers in Europe, North America and Asia to better support our international customers. If you are running X2CRM on-premise this may also be a good opportunity to move your X2CRM system to our new AmazonAWS powered cloud infrastructure. We will be sending out more detail on this exciting new X2VPS\AmazonAWS powered cloud service in the coming weeks.

X2CRM for Chromebook 2

I have been a big fan of Google’s ChromeOS for mobile CRM for some time. This week I needed a new laptop to take traveling and the thought of lugging my heavy, hot macbook with a power cord around did not excite me. So, I took a chance and bought a new Toshiba Chromebook2 from Amazon for $350.00 – or less then 20% of the cost of new PC/Mac laptop.

Not only has this machine completely surpassed all my hopes, but for me, it is indeed a much more useful and realistic portable computer for folks on the road. A couple of things I really like about ChromeOS; one – the screen resolution is superior to most, more expensive laptops. X2CRM looks great! It’s as if you have a super large hi-res desktop monitor. Second, the battery lasts for 9 hours on a 3 hour charge – so no more lugging power cables around. Third and best of all, it boots in two seconds is seems, no more waiting, and waiting, waiting for the computer to turn on and shutdown. Fourth, it is super light. Five, easy to tether to my phone for instant internet access on the road.

If you have a mobile sales force I would highly recommend ChromeOS based machines. With a range of machines from $200 to $350 (expensive one) you can not go wrong. I am already looking forward to the desktop, large display version for call centers, inside sales and service teams.

As customer relationship management (CRM) software developers we spend most of our time at our offices in Santa Cruz, California. It is nice that in todays world we can service customers across the globe while still performing most all of our work from this location.

Last Tuesday Jake Houser and I manned a table at the Founders Showcase event held at Microsoft Silicon Valley headquarters. The event was a great opportunity to showcase X2CRM and we received some excellent feedback and a signed several new X2CRM customers.
